BLOG UPDATE: A Crocus Rears Its Head In Tappan

Aching back remedies in the local Nyack area

So for those of you who know me personally.  This year, my achilles heel has been my lower back.  Sometimes, my husband says, You look like the letter 'R' when I walk.

So I get great massages from Deb Adamy, Charlene Bradin of Birchwood Center in South Nyack, and Isadora Guggenheim, a doctor of naturopathy in Nyack.  All three have healing hands.  I like the combination of stretching, shiatsu, and swedish from Deb.  And Charlene mixes in some deep tissue that has been very freeing.  Isadora has a great machine that sends electrical pulses through one's body....awesome!

Also, this time I think what did the trick was the accupunturist.  Absolutely phenomenal.  Dr. Catherine Hall at Bruce Handelsman's office!  She took the time to figure out where the pain exactly was on my back.  She had a little different technique where she even did some of the needles while I was standing.  Left tiny bruises that didn't hurt at all...but some relief the next day was well worth it.

And I have to say -- moist heat and walking helped tremendously too.  I have walked down by the river in Upper Nyack for the past 3 days...about 3 miles a day.

And this time, I also started searching on www.youtube.com for stretches for the lower back.  And I did lots of stretching watching the computer to make sure I was doing them right.

So the combination of accupuncture, chiropractic, walking, stretches and dates with my heating pad, of course, seems to be doing the trick.

I am hopeful to get out on the paddle court later this week!
